Welcome to Perth

Perth is Western Australia's beautiful capital city, on the edge of the Swan River. Home to over 2 million, Australia's 4th largest city has a great mix of things to see and experience for both the business and leisure traveller.

Perth Now and Then

Perth has a stylish city centre which has a mix of heritage buildings and modern architecture including a few smallish skyscrapers. The City Business District, centred around St George's Terrace, has office buildings interspersed with cafes and shops and the main shopping areas are Murray St and Hay Street in Perth's city centre.

During the week

During the week the inner city is alive with people at work and milling around the shopping malls. With excellent Museums, the Perth Mint, Aquarium, Planetarium, Adventure World, Burswood Casino, Perth Arena, Theatres and Cinemas Perth has many entertainment possibilities. Northbridge is a great place to go after dark.

On the banks of the River Swan

Perth is located along the beautiful curves of the Swan River.

It is lovely to stroll along the Perth Esplanade on the banks of the Swan River, through the gardens of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, through Stirling Gardens and back towwards Elizabeth Quay.

Elizabeth Quay

At Elizabeth Quay there are 15 restaurants, cafes and bars! There are plenty of activities including a playground, adventure golf and Segway tours.

From the Elizabeth Quay suspension bridge there is a great view back towards Perth city. The impressive lighting offers an array of colour and creates a magical ambiance through the darkness. The Water Park, a fabulous community water space, offers a chance to cool down on a hot day. Splash in the water jets or catch a captivating water show!

Ferries to the City and Islands

From the Quay you can catch a ferry to Fremantle, South Perth, Claisebrook Cove and Rottnest Island. The Bell Tower is a great landmark for finding Barrack Street Jetty. Cruise or Kayak on the Swan River for a pleasurable and unique way to experience the city. You can simply stroll along the river banks or catch a Segway for some added fun!

Kings Park, Perth

West of the City, overlooking it, sits splendid King's Park. Enjoy splendid views over the Swan River and the Darling Range in the distance and relax in one of the world's largest inner city parks. The 4sq kilometre Park is open for visiting 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

It offers walks, cafes and restaurants, wildlife, the WA Botanical Garden, children’s play parks, fitness areas, a tower climb and a nature area for the enjoyment and education of all. Kings Park is a popular spot for both locals and tourists all year round. It is a meeting place for birds, wildflowers and wildlife too...so immersing yourself in nature is easy.

Does Perth have nice Beaches?

No! They're not nice, they're spectacular! The long stretching white sandy beaches only 30 minutes West of Perth offer both adventure and relaxation. You can experience all types of outdoor sporting from jet skis, jet packs, sailing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, kite surfing and more.

There is a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in Perth, perhaps that's because it has more sunshine than in any other Australian City!

Visiting Perth

The main visitor's areas are easily accessible (with LOTS of parking), long and wide pedestrian areas, raised bridges connecting Elizabeth Quay to the CBD including the historic buildings nestled amongst wicked-cool skyscrapers and offices. It's easy to see why Perth is a popular working environment and is the hub of the Western Australian social scene.

Getting around Perth

The CAT tourist bus is free so you can hop on and hop off at your destinations of choice! Or be chauffeured around in style, the city is easy to explore.
